Yesterday we had our cabinet doors installed. They are still not finished and need a little love and care but I of course at 10pm at night was loading in our kitchen wares. We also have running water and ran our first load of dishes... crazy. We are going out of town this weekend but hopefully we will be pretty settled sometime in May. I literally can not wait.

Decorating Updates
We are not nearly as far along as I think we would both like to be but I am hoping this week is where we push to get everything finished. The cabinet doors get installed tomorrow which I think will make a big difference-- allowing us to unpack the kitchen. Just as a reminder I have included a kitchen picture without the doors.
This weekend we didn't actually get very much done. The only real thing we did was to hang some more pictures in the living room, please ignore the fact that some of the frames are empty. This is a combination of not having photos from my parents house that I want and hanging more frames than I originally intended. There are actually a couple more going up but I had to take one of them to the frame store so that wall won't be completely done until sometime the last week of April. I will hopefully be accomplishing a lot this week and next so I will try and keep up posting pictures.

Stripes
We got the stripes painted in the hallway yesterday and I am in love with them. We contemplated doing them ourselves but at the end of the day decided we should just have our contractor do it as they completed the punch list. We are going to have to do a little retouching as some paint got ripped off when they removed the tape. They also finished installing the tile in the kitchen which turned out really great.

Move In Week 1
So looking back at this week there are some gaps in photos which I apologize for. I have actually been pretty diligent about taking them so this post is an array of photos from the past week. DP has moved his stuff into the apartment and we are now in the state of unpacking. I don't move in until the end of the month which basically means we are moving in for 3 weeks but hey- that is life sometimes.

Countertops Part 2
I know I haven't posted pictures of our unpacking and setting up but I definitely will tomorrow. I just wanted to share with everyone our new counter-tops. I haven't actually been to the apartment to see them but DP sent me photos that I wanted to share. Everything is very slowly coming together. Hopefully tomorrow our plumbing will be done and our tubs will be re-glazed. (Obviously we still don't have cabinet doors)...

Maps and Things
Yesterday I sat in the apartment all day waiting for things to get delivered dreaming about the day (hopefully soon) that I will be able to decorate. I wanted to share a few of my favorite things that are going to be introduced.
First, when my grandmother passed away early last year my mom went through a bunch of her old things and gave me old letters and report cards she had saved. There were a lot of really cool things but the most amazing was this program book from the 1939 Worlds Fair. In the front of the book is a map of the fair that is just amazing. I ended up scanning the map and printing it instead of framing the original (which I really wanted to do but seemed like not a great idea). Anyway I am in love with it.
Second is this map wrapping paper that I bought ages ago at Kate's Paperie. It was $4.50 and felt like something that needed to be put on display. Originally I was going to mount it on cork and make a cork board out of it (which I may still do) but i think I may love it too much to do that to it.

The final piece I am really excited is this old letter-- also from my grandmothers. I have a firm belief that if you are to keep stuff you should do something with it. This letter is amazing and from the late 1800s (written to my great grandmother) I want to take it to a framer and get it protected and then framed and put up in the living room.
